The four inches figure is a rounding up of the only solid number that comes up repeatedly. It’s taken from a 2005 study of 50 women whose vaginal depth ranged from 2.5 inches to 4.9 inches, with an average of 3.77 inches.
But no matter what number we settle on, it’s still only a half truth because it’s only part of the story. And when we drop a number without elaborating on it, it’s usually misleading.

The length of the vagina is an interesting fact and it’s cool to know. But it’s not usually shared as a fun bit of trivia.
When it comes up, it’s usually to reassure men.
