5 Differences Between Paid Porn and Free Porn

Clips are just a taste of what porn has to offer

Porn changed when I started streaming it. But it happened gradually enough that I didn’t even notice.

I was jilling off to it for free, but that was nothing new. I was a porn pirate from day one.

My introduction to porn was through my parents’ satellite dish. My dad signed up for the basic service but got someone to hack into the receiver and give us access to all the premium channels.

It didn’t even occur to me to pay for porn. I went straight to The Pirate Bay. And when the pervs there didn’t have what I was looking for, I’d head over to a site called Empornium. There, I would stock up by connecting with a network of faceless people uploading and downloading stolen porn

My boyfriend’s hard drive filled up quickly and I had to burn all the scenes and movies to DVD-Rs. Over the first few months, I had accumulated a tower of shiny, rainbow-reflective discs with adult videos for any mood I was in.

When I discovered Pornhub, it felt like a blessing. I was already lifting porn without paying, streaming just made it so much easier. I streamed to my horny heart’s content and soon threw out my precarious pile of dirty DVDs.

That changed the kind of porn I watched. The porn clips on tube sites weren’t the same as the full scenes I had been into.

I was too enamored with streaming to notice. I could type in whatever I wanted to see and jill off to it immediately. No pre-planning needed.

It’s only when I started paying for porn and accessing full videos that it clicked. Paid porn hits different. There are so many things about it that you just don’t get to enjoy when you’re watching clips instead.

Paid Porn Is More Immersive

I’ve been told by multiple people that porn videos are short because porn consumers don’t have the attention span to watch anything longer.

But they’re only short if you’re watching clips.

It’s true that tube sites are full of brief videos. The front page of Pornhub is usually stocked full of scenes that are around 8 to 17 minutes long.

I don’t think it’s because we can’t handle anything longer, though.

It’s partly because porn studios want to entice users to pay for their content. Instead of giving you a full 50-minute scene, they’ll give you a 12-minute taste in the hopes that you’ll subscribe to their site.

It’s also because tube sites are hubs for amateurs making self-produced content. And as someone who has shot some solo porn for fun, I can tell you that anything longer than 15 minutes would be a very big task. It takes a ton of work and some creativity just to get a 7-minute scene worth watching.

Paying for porn gives you access to something that’s very different.

Full scenes actually feel like scenes — there’s a beginning, a middle, and an end. It’s rarely just isolated sex acts, but you get to watch people move through every stage of a proper fuck — from touching and making out, to fingering and blowing, all the way to multiple orgasms and messy cumshots.

In a lot of cases, there’s a decent storyline too. My favorite series make me want to sit through the entire 50-minute runtime of a scene — or however long I last before I come.

Adult Time even released 90-minute versions of their films Teenage Lesbian and Perspective that cut out all the hardcore scenes so they can be watched like regular, non-adult movies. Though it’s much better if you watch the full four hours as a miniseries (regular movies could use more explicit sex anyway).

Because paid porn scenes are longer, it also means they can do a much better job of setting a mood, creating sexual tension, and establishing a dynamic between the performers.

That can make a scene so much better. You don’t just get to watch a hard anal fuck, you get to watch a hard anal fuck between two people who fell into temptation they tried to resist. And I’d much rather see pussy eating between two friends who were playfully insinuating that they want to explore each other than just seeing abstract pussy eating. When the production value is high enough, you can even feel yourself getting drawn in by the atmosphere long before the action starts.

There’s More Female Pleasure

There’s still some faking in premium porn scenes. It’s a performance, so there’s bound to be moments of artificial moaning, dirty talk that isn’t entirely sincere, and exaggerated orgasms.

But in its full context, you can usually see some very clear moments of pleasure and delight.

Sometimes, you can see them enjoying the playfulness of getting lost in their character or leaning into their performance.

There are times when the female performers look like they’re having the time of their lives, coming hard over and over again thanks to their costar’s extensive skills.

And in really great scenes, they get even more out of it than the orgasms. There are moments of obvious chemistry between the performers that are just as arousing as the sex they’re having.

Clips tend to zero in either on the most hardcore action or the parts where the pleasure is really exaggerated. That’s the eye-catching stuff that will make people stop and click. The moments of genuine pleasure are more subtle than that, but you’ll catch plenty of them in full-length scenes.

Clips can entertain me and turn me on, but it’s that kind of pleasure that makes me wish I was actually getting fucked in the same way.

Hours and Hours of Pussy Eating

For years, I’ve held on to the assumption that there isn’t enough pussy eating in porn. And that if you want to see a tongue hit a clit for more than twenty seconds, you’ll have to look for girl-on-girl action.

But I’m learning now that pussy eating is one of the things that gets trimmed out of the clips you find on Pornhub. Since I started paying for porn, I’ve watched extended sequences of men going down on women in just about every video I watch.

The Acting Is Surprisingly Competent

Porn is notorious for its bad acting. That’s to be expected because it’s an industry full of people who wanted to fuck on screen and were then handed scripts.

But some performers are actually quite good at embodying the characters they play.

I watched Future Darkly’s The Aura Doll because I wanted to vicariously live out my sex doll fantasies. I was excited to get to the threesome with a doll, but I didn’t even feel tempted to skip to it.

I watched from start to finish because Tommy Pistol and Whitney Wright both gave such good performances that I wanted to see where the dialogue would take them and what their characters would do next.

Bad acting can take you out of a scene. But they drew me in.

The more full videos I watched, the more I was surprised by the acting. A lot of it wouldn’t be out of place in an indie movie.

Seth Gamble has a presence that’s hard to ignore when he’s given the right script. And I keep watching Emily Willis because she’s cute as fuck, but she holds her own even before her clothes come off.

You can find clips of those performers all over tube sites, but you rarely get to see them flex their acting chops in them.

You Can See More of the Performers

Some sites show you the performers doing things other than filming their scenes, and that makes the porn so much hotter.

You might be able to watch behind-the-scenes features, pre- and post-shoot conversations with the performers, and regular-ass fully clothed interviews with pornstars.

Being able to see who they really are can be really interesting. But it also gives you a little more of a parasocial relationship with them, which tends to make them more attractive.

It also shows that most of the performers are into the things they do on screen, even if it’s the kind of thing that seems unpleasant. Seeing them talk about how they’re really into being choked, slapped, or gagging on dick makes the rough sex they do on screen a lot less off-putting. And finding out that the women you watch are really into consensual non-consent makes it a lot easier to watch some of the darker taboo porn.

When you find out that it’s their kink and not just an act, you can get off guilt-free knowing it’s how they get off, too.

Get Better Porn

There’s an ethical argument for paying for your porn.

Paying means you’re directly compensating the people who make your entertainment. Not only the performers, but also the directors, writers, and the crew that make the scenes so great.

You can also decide to only support mainstream and indie studios that have a reputation for treating their performers well. And most porn studios operate as ethically as other companies do — they comply with regulations, pay their workers, and try to make sure performers want to work with them again in the future.

But paying for porn also gives you a better experience. You get access to full scenes, with lots of different kinds of action. You get an aesthetic that is tailored to your taste. And you get to watch hot women having an amazing time.

Porn is frankly better than it’s ever been. If you’re wondering why porn isn’t as good as it used to be, it’s probably because you’re watching too many clips. Once you go to full scenes, you’ll see what you were missing.
