My Top 5 Favorite Lubes (And Why I Love Them)

If you read enough sex advice, you know that already.

I know what sucky lube is like, so I wanted to put together this list of the lubes I keep using over and over. They’re the ones that have impressed me the most and if you’re not sure what kind of lube you should try, I highly recommend starting with these.
Überlube Silicone-Based Lube
Überlube is the first lube I bought when I decided to try something that had a reputation for quality. It was also my first silicone-based lube.
Up until that point, I had never even considered trying silicone lube because I knew it wasn’t compatible with silicone sex toys. I made sure to only use water-based ones because I knew they could be used for almost anything. The only exception was having sex in water, which wasn’t something I did frequently - or ever, really.
The price also made me hesitate. Silicone lube isn’t as affordable as other types, and Überlube seemed especially pricey when I was comparing brands.
But I kept seeing glowing recommendations, so I gave it a shot. And when the glass bottle finally showed up on my doorstep, I was immediately converted.
Silicone lube was so different from the water-based ones I was used to. It was slightly thick, extremely slick, and very smooth.
Because it’s slick and really long-lasting, it made anal sex so much more comfortable and pleasurable.
It’s also really good for long pussy massages because it practically never wears out. And it works great for other kinds of sensual massages too.
Other than not being able to use it with silicone toys, the only downside is that it can be a bit of a task to wash silicone lube off after you’re done playing around.
I’ve tried a few silicone lubes since and they’ve all been decent, but I haven’t found one that’s quite as good as this one.
Sliquid Sassy Water-Based Anal Lube
I had been committed to using silicone-based lube for any kind of anal play until my husband gifted me a cute silicone buttplug.

And even though it’s designed for anal, I use it for practically everything. It’s water-based so it can be used with any toys. It’s pH safe, so you don’t put your pussy at risk of infection by using it. It doesn’t get tacky when used for handjobs. And it washes off a lot more easily than silicone lube.
This is the lube I use the most so I make sure to always have some. I keep an 8 oz. bottle of this one handy at all times - and a backup one so I never run out. It’s that good.
Jo Candy Shop Butterscotch Flavored Lube
I fell in love with Jo lubes at least three times.
I got a bottle of their Jo Gelato Mint Chocolate flavored lube because - well, because it’s mint chocolate flavored lube!
I was shocked when I tried it. I had so-so experiences with flavored lube before and I thought this would be the same. It would be slightly disappointing but fun for the sake of novelty.
Nope. This was genuinely delicious. Using it was like a cross between giving a blowjob and licking an ice cream cone.
Naturally, I wanted to try more. And as much as I wanted to try all the Jo Gelato flavors, I gravitated toward their Candy Shop line of lubes. I’m a sucker for cute, colorful packaging and the Candy Shop labels spoke to me on that level.

None of them quite compare to Überlube but Sliquid Silk comes close enough. It makes vibrators feel extra stimulating and makes fucking yourself with a dildo so much better.
And it makes a really good choice when you’re doing all sorts of things in one go.
